Uglyfartwaffles:
My
Struggle
with
Self-Acceptance
Choosing
a
username
isn't
always
easy.
Some
people
go
for
clever
puns
or
pop
culture
references,
while
others
opt
for
something
more
personal.
But
for
me,
there
was
only
one
option:
Uglyfartwaffles.
It's
not
a
name
that
rolls
off
the
tongue,
nor
is
it
one
that
garners
admiration
or
respect.
It's
the
kind
of
name
that
makes
people
stop
and
stare,
wondering
why
anyone
would
choose
such
an
unpleasant
combination
of
words.
But
for
me,
it
was
the
perfect
choice.
Growing
up,
I
struggled
with
body
image
issues
and
low
self-esteem.
I
felt
like
I
didn't
fit
in
with
the
pretty
girls
at
school,
and
spent
hours
obsessing
over
my
flaws.
I
was
too
fat,
too
pale,
too
awkward.
I
felt
like
an
ugly
duckling
surrounded
by
swans.
But
as
I
got
older,
I
began
to
realize
that
my
appearance
wasn't
the
only
thing
that
made
me
feel
different.
I
had
a
weird
sense
of
humor,
an
offbeat
personality,
and
a
tendency
to
say
exactly
what
was
on
my
mind.
And
that's
when
I
decided
to
embrace
my
weirdness,
to
stop
trying
to
fit
in
with
everyone
else
and
start
being
true
to
myself.
And
what
better
way
to
do
that
than
with
a
username
like
Uglyfartwaffles?
It's
a
reminder
that
I
don't
need
to
be
pretty
or
perfect
to
be
happy,
that
sometimes
the
things
that
make
us
different
are
the
things
that
make
us
special.
It's
a
way
to
take
control
of
my
insecurities
and
own
them,
to
turn
something
negative
into
something
positive.
Of
course,
not
everyone
understands
my
choice
of
username.
Some
people
find
it
gross
or
offensive,
or
simply
don't
get
the
joke.
But
that's
okay.
I
didn't
choose
it
for
their
approval
or
validation.
I
chose
it
for
myself,
as
a
symbol
of
self-acceptance
and
individuality.
So
if
you're
struggling
with
your
own
sense
of
self-worth,
I
encourage
you
to
find
your
own
version
of
Uglyfartwaffles.
It
doesn't
have
to
be
a
silly
name,
of
course.
It
could
be
any
number
of
things:
a
quirky
hobby,
a
unique
talent,
a

for
something
unusual.
Whatever
it
is,
embrace
it.
Own
it.
And
know
that
there's
nothing
wrong
with
being
different.
In
fact,
it's
often
the
people
who
stand
out
from
the
crowd
who
make
the
biggest
impact
in
the
world.
