City.
The
grandeur
and
scale
of
the
buildings
left
them
awestruck.
Walking
through
the
palace
corridors,
they
imagined
themselves
as
Chinese
emperors
and
empresses.
Emma
was
particularly
fascinated
by
the
imperial
gardens,
and
David
loved
the
impressive
calligraphy
and
artworks
that
adorned
the
walls. After
a
traditional
Chinese
lunch
in
a
nearby
restaurant,
they
visited
the
hutongs.
They
took
a
rickshaw
ride
through
the
alleyways,
and
it
was
a
fantastic
experience.
They
saw
locals
living
their
day-to-day
lives,
doing
their
laundry,
and
hanging
it
outside
their
houses
to
dry.
Emma
was
fascinated
by
the
fashion
of
the
locals,
and
David
loved
admiring
the
modern
architecture
amidst
the
ancient
courtyard
houses. Their
final
destination
of
the
day
was
the
Summer
Palace.

them. David
and
Emma's
